"A very welcoming maison d’hôtes providing true Moroccan hospitality"

Lonely Planet Morocco      2005

“LUXE FOR LESS: The  English owners of this former pasha’s palace have transformed it into a splendid five-room hotel, complete with original plasterwork, antique tiles, 17th century painted ceilings and oriental carpets and silks.

Harpers & Queen   December 2002

Maison Mnabha is an English owned and family run hotel.  Its appeal is to discerning visitors to Marrakech looking for a small hotel that warmly welcomes its guests as individuals.  Our emphasis is on personal attention and retaining the feeling of traditional hospitality in an historic house of the medina (old city) of Marrakech.  We do all that we can to ensure that guests at Maison Mnabha experience Marrakech to the full and return home with inspiring memories of Morocco.

As we are particularly well informed about Marrakech and the region, we are always ready with cultural and practical information as well as specialist advice if required.  For visitors spending only a few days in the city we can help make the most of their stay with suggested sightseeing itineraries and impartial shopping advice.

Description

“The deal of the century: with its intricately painted 17th-century wooden ceiling, hand-carved walls, delicate silk cushions and stained-glass archways, it is by far one of the swankiest hangouts in the city.  Take note, Amanjunkies”.   London Evening Standard, September 2000

Maison Mnabha is atmospheric and serene.  The authenticity of its decoration is reflected in a strong use of colour and pattern in rooms which are original and which represent a tradition that  has been the hallmark of Marrakech palaces for centuries: painted cedar wood ceilings and doors, carved plasterwork and hand cut polychromatic mosaic tiles.

On the upper level of Maison Mnabha, a patio decorated with hand made bricks and tiles leads to two roof terraces with unrestricted views of the minarets, palaces and sights of the old city.  Seen from Maison Mnabha's terraces in the winter and spring, the snow capped peaks of the Atlas mountains rise above the silhouettes of the elegant palm trees that border the Agdal Gardens, originally planted by an Almohad Sultan in the twelfth century.

Breakfast is served for most of the year on the terrace.  Only the freshest of locally grown seasonal produce is used in the preparation of food at Maison Mnabha.

"The charm of Momo with beds.  Breakfast is served outside - sweet, fresh orange juice, croissants and the kind of coffee that kickstarts a day watching the snake-charmers and acrobats in the Djemmaa el-Fna souk just a few  minutes walk away"Tatler Travel Guide 2001
